How disc golf is played

Disc golf is a flying disc sport in which players throw a disc at a target and is played according to rules similar to golf. A disc golf course usually consists of 9 or 18 lanes. Each lane has its own launch line behind which the first throw must be made. All subsequent throws are then made from the point where the last throw ended. To make this easier, markers (small plastic or metal disks) are often used so that you can throw again with the disc you have thrown. You finish a course by throwing your disc into the catch basket (disc golf basket) at the end of the course. The aim of the game is to finish each lane with as few throws as possible. The Discgolf Disc

Disc golfers usually carry several different types of discs during a round, depending on the course layout and personal preferences. The reason for this is that they have different flight characteristics and are therefore used depending on the situation. Putters are used for throws into the basket and straight throws with a lot of control. Mid-range discs have a flatter design, which decreases more and more towards fairway drivers and distance drivers. The flatter the disc, the faster it has to be thrown in order to glide.

The influence of skill is also visible in the maximum throwing distances. Beginners usually achieve the longest distances with putters, while good players naturally achieve the greatest distances with distance drivers.
