Discbase Guest Post
Hi everyone! Many of you know me from the tournament course, some also as a Discgolf4you team player. Today I get to introduce something here on the blog that has taken almost every spare minute over the past months: Discbase.
Discbase is a platform that brings everything around disc golf tournaments together in one place: registration, live scoring and results, plus a tournament companion for your phone and a tool that lets you draw your own course with ease. What it can do today, where it is already in use and where it is heading โ that is what I want to tell you about here.

Why I am building Discbase
Anyone who has ever organised a tournament knows the drill: registration runs through a form, the player list lives in Excel, and entry fees are matched against the bank account by hand. Info goes out via WhatsApp, the caddybook is made as a PDF and the tee signs in a graphics program. Each of these tools works on its own, but together they cost an incredible amount of time.
My goal from the start was simple: one place for everything. Tournament directors should spend less time at the laptop and more time on the course. Players should have everything they need for a tournament in one place on their phone. And every course should finally get a face.
Discbase is free for players. You create an account once and can use it to register for any tournament on the platform, collect your results and keep your bag up to date.
The pilot tournament: the Vienna State Championships 2026
Coming up soon: the Vienna State Championships 2026 (Wiener Landesmeisterschaften) on 21 and 22 November in Vienna’s Prater run entirely on Discbase. The tournament is a PDGA C-Tier, hosted by Discgolf Flight Club Wien, and the championships are being held in Vienna for the first time since 2019.
The first big milestone is already behind us: registration ran smoothly.
- Two registration waves: First, everyone whose main residence is in Vienna could sign up; three days later, everyone else. Discbase asks the residence question right at registration.
- Well filled: 44 of the 52 spots are already taken, as of the end of October.
- Everything at a glance: Everyone can see free spots, divisions and entry fee live on the tournament page, plus directions, schedule and caddybook.
- Side event: The Longest Putt on hole 10 is also scored with Discbase.

For the first time, Discbase accompanies a championship from the first click at registration to the award ceremony. I am incredibly excited and curious to hear your feedback. If you would still like to play, you will find the registration right on the tournament page.
Discbase Caddy: your tournament companion in your pocket
From now on you always have a caddy with you. The Discbase Caddy is switched on automatically for every tournament and opens a few days before the start. It runs in your browser and can be added to your home screen like an app.
- Schedule and news: Tournament directors send announcements straight to your phone, as a push notification if they like.
- Every hole as a map: Tee, basket, OB and mandos at a glance. You simply measure distances digitally in the caddybook.
- Your plan: For each hole you note your line and pick the disc from your bag. Your personal packing list is built from that.
- Check-in with a QR ticket: quick on tournament day, ace pot included.
- Live: Results, brackets and your own round, all in the same window.

At the tee, the starter monitor shows on a screen which flight is up next, from round 2 including the current standings. And then all that is left to say is: Have a great round!
Discbase Atlas: every hole. Drawn once.
My personal favourite project is Discbase Atlas. It lets you draw your course exactly as it really is, every distance accurate to the metre: tee, basket and playing line, then trees, water, OB zones, mandos and drop zones. Everything else is created from this one drawing:
- Tee signs for every hole and every tee pad, in four styles and all common formats, with a QR code linking to the hole in the Caddy.
- The course overview as a poster up to A1, with walking routes, toilets, parking and meeting point.
- The caddybook as a PDF, with scorecard, legend and dedicated pages for sponsors.
- Contour lines and elevation profile from real terrain data: you see at once whether it goes uphill or downhill.
- Measurable holes in the Discbase Caddy, so players on the course know exactly how far it is.

Anyone planning and building new courses will love this, whether club, municipality, mountain railway or course designer. What used to take hours in a graphics program is done in Atlas in a few minutes โ and with every change it is instantly up to date everywhere.
Atlas is becoming a product of its own. Anyone can try a test course with up to nine holes for free. For full courses we agree terms individually, depending on the course โ and soon there will also be a dedicated studio for course designers. If you would like to know more, just drop me a line.
A few more highlights
- Tournament calendar with radius search and a free calendar feature for your phone.
- Registration with all the trimmings: registration waves, waiting list, entry fee and self-cancellation.
- PDGA integration: ratings right in your profile, plus your PDGA rank in your own country.
- Formats for every occasion: stroke play, doubles, match play with a bracket (also double elimination), Swiss system, putting championship, distance contest and rating match play with handicap throws.
- Series standings across several tournaments.
- My Bag: You enter your discs and see their flight paths matched to your throwing distance. Discbase shows you gaps in your bag, and with one click you are at the matching disc in the Discgolf4you shop.
- Club management: members, dues and tournaments of a club in one place.
- Bilingual: fully in German and English.

What’s next
Disc golf is growing fast, and the tools should grow with it. After the Vienna State Championships I will review everything that went well and what can be better. Your feedback flows straight into the next versions.
- More tournaments, more clubs: Every club and every organiser should be able to create tournaments on Discbase easily by themselves.
- Beyond borders: Discbase has been built for several countries and federations from the start. Talks with a major European federation about a possible partnership are already under way.
- Atlas as a product of its own: for everyone who plans, builds and runs courses.
- Closer to the course: The Discbase Caddy should take over even more of what still happens on slips of paper and in chat groups today.
My vision is a platform where organisers save time, players find everything in one place and every course looks as good as it plays.
